How to read insider and bulk-deal signals

Promoter open-market buying

Founders and promoter-group entities buying on the exchange with their own capital is the clearest vote of confidence a company can give. Inter-se transfers between promoter entities and preferential allotments are excluded here because no new money changes hands in the market.

Bulk vs block deals

A bulk deal is any client trading more than 0.5% of a company's shares in a day. A block deal is a single trade of ₹10 Cr or more in the exchange's special block window. Same-day buy-and-sell by one client (usually arbitrage desks) is flagged as a round-trip and excluded from net accumulation.

Reading insider selling

Insiders sell for tax, diversification or personal reasons. Clustered selling by several insiders, or promoter stake cuts alongside rising pledges, deserve more attention than an isolated sale.
